FAQ
Paris and Los Angeles trips: quick answers
Do I need ETIAS to fly from Los Angeles to Paris?
Not yet. As of October 18, 2026, ETIAS is not in operation and no applications are being collected, so you don’t need one for France today. Once it launches, the travel authorisation will cost €20 and cover stays of up to 90 days. The EU says it will announce the start date several months in advance.

What is the EU Entry/Exit System at Paris airports?
It’s the EU’s digital border record for non-EU visitors on short stays. It registers your passport details, fingerprints and a facial image, plus the date and place of each entry and exit. It became fully operational on April 10, 2026, replacing passport stamps in 29 European countries, including France, so allow extra time at border control.

How much is an ESTA for a trip from Paris to Los Angeles?
$40.62 per application on the official U.S. government ESTA website. French citizens and other Visa Waiver Program travelers need an approved ESTA before flying to the United States for business or leisure stays of 90 days or less. U.S. Customs and Border Protection recommends applying as soon as you start planning, ideally before you buy your ticket.

We're planning a trip to Greece in November, what are some strategies to find the cheapest flights from Paris during the off-season?
Enter Paris and your Greek airport (Athens, Thessaloniki or an island airport) in our Low Fare Calendar. It shows the lowest fare it holds for each departure month, so you can compare November with October and December. Prices change all the time, so check your exact dates before you book. Being flexible on dates and airports can widen your choice.
Generally speaking, when can I expect to find the best deals on flights from Paris to South America?
It depends on the country and the route, so compare months rather than relying on a rule. Enter Paris and your destination in our Low Fare Calendar to see the lowest fare it holds for each departure month. Flexible dates, nearby airports and travelling with hand luggage only can all lower the total cost. Prices change all the time, so check your own dates.
I'm flexible with my travel dates, is there a tool that can help me find the cheapest week to fly from Paris?
Yes. Enter Paris and your destination in our Low Fare Calendar: it shows the lowest fare it holds for each departure month, so you can find the cheapest month first and then compare the dates inside it. Our Flight Deals from Paris deal map is another way to browse routes. Flexible dates usually give you more chances of a low fare.
Once I find a good deal on a flight from Paris, how long should I wait before booking to avoid a price increase?
There is no fixed rule: fares can rise or fall at any time, and the cheapest seats can sell out. If a fare is clearly below what you have seen for your route, for example below the monthly lows in our Low Fare Calendar, booking within a few days may be the safer choice. If you can wait, keep checking your dates.
Can I book a ticket on the same flight as someone else?
Yes. Ask for the airline, flight number and date, then look up that exact flight on the airline’s own website or another flight search site. Seats and prices on the same flight can differ from what the other person paid, and seats can sell out, so booking soon may be wise if travelling together matters to you.
What factors should I consider when booking a ticket on the same flight as someone else?
Check three things: whether seats are still free (sitting together isn’t guaranteed), the fare (it can differ from the other person’s because of fare class and booking date), and what happens if the flight is changed or cancelled. Booking soon after you confirm the flight details usually gives you a better chance of getting a seat.
